My plans & why I haven't signed...
Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 4:28PM I'm being asked a lot why I'm not signed to a major record label. So, I think it's a good idea to let you know what's going on.
Well, I have received offers from major labels - the first offer was in February and I've had more enquiries from the UK, Europe and North America since... So, why haven't I signed? The reason is that I believe there are certain things that I need to do first to give me the best chance of succeeding in the future and also allow myself the time to experiment and create the music I really want to make. I'm also having loads of fun and that is what it's all about :)
The most important thing is to keep getting my music out there to as many people as possible and hopefully finding new fans along the way. The best way for me to do this is to continue to make my music available for you guys to listen to whilst not being afraid to develop my sound as I go along. I'm also going to keep touring, practising, and perfecting my live performances. At the same time I'm going to start releasing my own records independently for a while.
I have lots of exciting things coming up in the next few months. As well as the short UK tour I did in September, I have a French tour in November with Two Door Cinema Club and another, bigger UK tour in February 2011. My first EP will be released on my site in mid November (yey!) and I've already started working on another EP that I'll release in March 2011. Doing it this way allows me to grow as an artist, I've learnt so much already, and I keep trying to push my creative abilities higher and higher.
While I'm an independent artist, I need to generate some income to support what I'm doing. So I'm going to start making my tracks available on iTunes, so that fans can help me fund my music if they want to. At the same there will always be great versions of my tracks available for free on my site.
I'm sure at some point next year I'll be ready to sign a deal. Hopefully, my efforts will produce a company that really believes in me as a musician, singer, writer and performer. I will do everything I can between now and then (and for evermore!) to convince as many of you guys (fans of music!) as possible, that I am worth following and believing in.
Tah Dah! So there you go, now you know aaaall my plans! Let’s keep our fingers crossed :) X

Nice one Florrie, do what makes you happy man.
Pace and love x
I came across your music while searching for "Fred Falke" remixes. I think it's great that you have all this for free download (especially the Falke remixes). You may not generate some money from doing this but you generated a fan in me who is willing to support and purchase your future work. Putting them up on iTunes would be a great start. I would also suggest Traxsource or Beatport so it can be available to those who want high quality format (WAV).
You're amazing, Florrie. Keep up the good work! I love you and your music.
It's great to know that you're not selling out, it's so rare these days. Keep up the amazing work ;)
Everyone wants to be surprised by art, be it music or a film or a novel or whatever. But only artists are willing to risk exploring the unknown until they find it. Businesses want to be surprised and delighted too but in the meantime, they'll want you to 'make product that's worked before'. It's great to see you're resisting that =D
Quite right - dont rush it. Listen to all the past years of music and get inspired...it really takes a while to build your own sound - I know as Im a producer also...I would give it even longer tbh...dont cave and become another 'me too' girl artist - build your own vision...
If you want your music across itunes, spotify etc then i suggest www.tunefire.com .. love the music
You are such an amazing artist Florrie! I'm glad to see you're in no rush to "go big" as you are already big in my book. I think every up and coming musician should take a lesson from you. You're the best. Please come to the USA in the future. And I'm soooooo glad your EP is on vinyl. Cheers!
I love your stuff and remixes! Consider me a fan. :)
We need more people in music with ideas like yours.
You already have a fan in Spain.
I really appreciate your free music! Not only is it amazing, but you seem like an intelligent and respectable artist...thank you!
This writing is what made me listen to the music, to be honest. Boy, was I surprised. It's pop in it's best form.
It's a very genuine thing what you're doing and it will be exciting to see it take form. You just got another fan right here :).
You're amazing !
Follow your way !
For me, it's very courageous to decline these offers to make your music at its top !
I'm totally with you and your projects because your music sounds fantastic!
You've got also fans in France =)
Good Luck !
found your site searching drummer / songwriter - cool stuff - keep hummin!
Discovered you this eve. The music, the ethics, the attitude and the commitment are all absolutely fantastic in an industry that encourages those who chase the 'quick buck'.
I've downloaded every piece of free music you've kindly provided, and will happily pay to buy them all and keep you well fed enough to be as successful as you deserve to be.
Already bought my tickets for Feb.
God bless for being an artist of integrity.
x
Keep up the great work !
Take care.
Kisses from France !
